LIC AAO salary at a glance
Para 4 of the 2025 notification sets one pay scale for the Assistant Administrative Officer post. On top of the basic pay come admissible allowances such as House Rent Allowance and City Compensatory Allowance, depending on the class of city you’re posted in, plus a list of benefits under LIC’s rules.
The AAO basic pay scale
The notification writes the scale as ₹88635-4385(14)-150025-4750(4)-169025. It has two parts, each giving the size of the increment and how many increments come at that size.

How the basic pay grows
These are the basic pay figures at the start of the scale, at the point where the increment size changes, and at the top of the scale. They show basic pay only.
The only overall figure LIC gives is its estimate of about ₹1,26,000 a month in total emoluments at the minimum of the scale, including HRA, CCA and similar allowances, in an ‘A’ class city. LIC doesn’t publish an in-hand figure: take-home pay depends on the city you’re posted in and on deductions, so we don’t quote one here.
Posting & transfers
Para 5 of the notification is blunt about posting: the post is regular and transferable anywhere in India, and most of the vacancies are in LIC’s mofussil branches.
A regular post
AAO is a regular post in LIC, and LIC’s service rules apply as they stand from time to time.
Mostly mofussil branches
LIC says most AAO vacancies are in its mofussil branches, that is, branches outside the major cities.
Five years outside your home zone
After training, you’re posted for at least five years in mofussil branches outside your home zone.
No posting on request
LIC doesn’t entertain requests for a particular place or office. LIC decides postings and transfers, and treats them as part of the job.

LIC’s notification doesn’t list an AAO’s day-to-day duties, and they vary by office. What it does set out are the terms of joining and your first years in service — tap one to expand.

The notification lists these benefits, all “as per rules”. It doesn’t give rates or amounts for any of them, so we don’t either.
Career growth
AAO is the officer-level entry point into LIC. Within the scale, basic pay rises through 18 increments from ₹88,635 to ₹1,69,025. Promotions beyond the AAO post follow LIC’s own rules, which the recruitment notification doesn’t cover, so we don’t describe a promotion ladder here.
