How scores were worked out and shared

The 2025 AAO (Generalist) notification and LIC’s later notices set out these rules:

✓
No negative markingYour score in each objective test is the number of questions answered correctly
✓
Equated scoresScores from different sessions are equated using the equi-percentile method
✓
Two decimal placesTest-wise and total scores are reported up to two decimals
✓
Sectional & total cut-offsClear every test and the aggregate; the English papers are qualifying only
✓
Marks after the processLIC’s notice of 22 Apr 2026: marks and cut-offs only once the whole process was finalised
✓
Display of marksLater released via a “Display of marks AAO (Generalist/Specialist and AE)-2025” link on LIC’s page
Final selection

Merit list & final selection

Prelims marks are not added to the final merit. Mains marks alone decide who is called for interview — about three times the vacancies, category by category — and the final merit list is built on mains (300) plus interview (60), subject to minimum marks in both. Candidates in the final merit list then take a pre-recruitment medical exam, and are offered appointment if found fit.

Interview qualifying marks: 30 out of 60 for UR, EWS and OBC; 27 for SC, ST and PwBD. Ties are broken first by higher (post-graduate) qualification, then by age — the older candidate ranks higher. LIC keeps no waiting list for candidates not declared successful. In 2025 the final cut-off on mains + interview (out of 360) was 294 for UR.

What happened after the mains result

In the 2025 cycle, these steps followed the mains result before selected candidates joined LIC.

  1. Interview1,119 Generalist candidates were called (mains result, 4 Feb 2026). They had to bring the signed printout of their online application, the fee receipt, and original certificates with self-attested copies; biometrics are verified at document verification.
  2. Pre-recruitment medical examOn 9 Apr 2026 LIC shortlisted 350 candidates for the medical exam and told them the details by email. PwBD candidates also had to appear before a medical board set up to check their status.
  3. Final listOn 14 May 2026, 333 candidates were found eligible after the medical exam. LIC said they would be called for training, with the date and venue sent by email.
  4. Training & joiningKeep the indemnity bond and surety ready for the start of training: you undertake to serve LIC for 4 years (probation included) or pay ₹5,00,000 as liquidated damages. Probation is 1 year, extendable to 2, and postings can be anywhere in India — mostly in mofussil branches.
