CGL 2026 vacancy at a glance
SSC has announced 12,256 vacancies for CGL 2026 across dozens of posts in central government ministries and departments. As in past cycles, the final tally can rise once departments report additional requirements.
Category-wise framework
Vacancies are reserved as per central government policy. The indicative share of each category:

The 12,256 posts span pay levels 4 to 8 across departments such as CBDT, CBIC, CAG, CSS, MEA and MoSPI.
Level 7–8 posts
Income Tax Inspector, ASO, AEO, AAO — the most sought-after roles.
Level 6 posts
JSO, Assistant, Inspector of Posts, Divisional Accountant.
Level 4–5 posts
Auditor, Accountant, Tax Assistant, UDC.
