Know early

Calculate your expected score

Match your response sheet against the answer key, then apply the Tier 1 marking scheme — you’ll know your score well before the result.

Tier 1 formula

Score = (Correct × 2) − (Wrong × 0.5)

Count your correct and wrong answers from the response sheet, then plug them in. Unattempted questions score zero.

Example85 correct, 10 wrong
Correct85 × 2 = 170
Wrong10 × 0.5 = −5
Expected score170 − 5 = 165 / 200

Tier 2 uses a different scheme (3 marks per question, −1 for wrong in Paper I). See the exam pattern for the full marking rules.

FAQ

Answer key questions, answered

SSC releases the provisional answer key, with your response sheet, roughly a week after each exam. For Tier 1 (Aug–Sep 2026), expect it shortly after the exam window.
Log in on the answer-key portal at ssc.gov.in with your Registration No. and password. Your response sheet loads with each question, your answer and the key’s answer.
₹100 per question challenged. The fee is refunded if SSC upholds your objection in the final answer key.
For Tier 1: Score = (Correct × 2) − (Wrong × 0.5). Count your correct and wrong answers from the response sheet and apply the formula — unattempted questions score nothing.
No. The provisional key can be challenged. After reviewing objections, SSC publishes a final answer key, which is used to prepare the result.
If SSC does not uphold your challenge, the ₹100 fee for that question is not refunded, and the original key stands.
