RRB Group D salary at a glance
RRB Group D (CEN 09/2025) recruits for Level 1 posts across Indian Railways. These are assistants in the electrical, signal & telecom, mechanical and engineering departments, Pointsman B in traffic, and Trackmaintainer Grade IV. The RRBs’ FAQ confirms there is only one pay level in this CEN. Allowances are paid on top as per Railway rules, but the notification doesn’t list them, so this page sticks to the official pay figure.
Pay level & posts
As listed in CEN 09/2025, every post has the same pay level.
| Pay level | Initial pay | Posts |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 (7th CPC) | ₹18,000 | All posts under CEN 09/2025 — Annexure-A categories 1 to 14 |
Level 1: what the notification states
The notification gives one pay figure: the initial pay of ₹18,000 in Level 1. It doesn’t print the top of the pay band, the allowances or an in-hand amount. Your actual monthly salary will be higher once allowances are added, and lower after deductions.
Basic pay only. In-hand pay depends on the Dearness Allowance rate in force, your place of posting, the allowances that apply to you and your deductions, so JobSafal doesn’t quote an in-hand figure. Check with your Railway once you join.
The 14 post categories
From Annexure-A of CEN 09/2025. Every post has the same Level 1 initial pay. What differs is the department, the work and the medical standard you must meet. Category-wise vacancies for each Railway are in Annexure-B (see the vacancy page).

Job profiles by post
What the work broadly involves. Tap a post to expand it. The notification lists the posts and their medical standards but not detailed duties, so these are general descriptions. Your exact work depends on the unit you are posted to.
Allowances & deductions
Basic pay is only part of the salary. Railway employees also receive allowances and have deductions. The rates are set by government orders, change over time and aren’t listed in the notification, so confirm the current rates with your Railway.
Service terms in the notification
Selected candidates undergo training where it is prescribed, and only a stipend is paid during training (para 1.16). Once appointed, you are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers’ Unit of the Territorial Army (para 1.17), and you may have to sign a security and/or indemnity bond when you join (para 1.18). You normally serve on the Railway you are first posted to, and no request for a transfer to another Railway is registered until you have completed at least 5 to 10 years (para 1.15). The appointment itself is offered by the Railway administration, subject to medical fitness, certificate checks and character verification.
