Applications closed on 9 Mar 2026
Online applications for CEN 09/2025 ran from 31 January to 9 March 2026 (extended from 2 March by Corrigendum 4), with fee payment allowed till 11 March and a paid modification window from 12 to 21 March 2026. The RRBs received 52,39,760 applications (tentative figure, RRB notice of 25 August 2026). You can still log in at rrbapply.gov.in to see your application status.
Applications were accepted only through the link on the official RRB websites. The details in the ‘Create an Account’ form (including your mobile number and email) and your chosen RRB could not be changed later, so they had to be right the first time.
How the online application worked
- Create an accountThrough the link on an official RRB website, using your own mobile number and email (both OTP-verified), with your name, parents’ names and date of birth as in your 10th certificate (ITI/NAC-only candidates used that certificate). Anyone who had an account from the 2024/2025 CENs logged in with it. The RRBs advised verifying your identity through DigiLocker or Aadhaar.
- Choose one RRBYou picked a single RRB/Railway zone. Applying to more than one RRB, or twice to the same RRB, meant all your applications were rejected and you could be debarred.
- Fill the applicationPersonal details, other details, educational qualification, then preferences: the exam language (English, Hindi or one of 13 regional languages) and your order of preference for posts and zones/units within the chosen RRB.
- Capture photo & upload signatureA live photo through webcam or the phone’s front camera, and a scanned signature that meets the specs.
- Pay the feeOnline only, through net banking, debit/credit card or UPI. The application was accepted only after the payment was confirmed by email and SMS.
- Submit & printPrint the application with your registration number and keep it for every later stage.

Photo & signature specs
Photos and signatures that break the rules can get an application rejected at any stage. CEN 09/2025 (paras 16.4–16.5) asked for:

Wear non-white, preferably dark clothes, keep the camera at eye level and your face centred, with no cap, mask or spectacles. A photo of a printed or on-screen photograph is rejected. Sign in running handwriting with a black pen on white paper; block, capital or disjointed letters are rejected. Your signature must match at the CBT, DV, medical and appointment.
Application fee
Refunds are paid after deducting bank charges, only to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account validated in the application. Rejected, incomplete or absent candidates get no refund.
