What the result shows
Going by RRB Chandigarh’s CEN 08/2024 result (1 July 2026), the CBT result covers:
PET shortlist & final merit
The CBT decides your merit. On that merit, three times the community-wise vacancies are called for PET, which is qualifying only. Those who pass PET are called for document verification in a 1:1 ratio to the vacancies, again in order of CBT merit. If two candidates have the same marks, the older one ranks higher; if the age is also the same, the given name (not the surname) in A–Z order breaks the tie. For Course Completed Act Apprentices, one-third of the final merit marks come from the NCVT exam, or the CBT marks alone if those are higher (para 12.4–12.5).
Posts and Railway units are allotted by merit, the post preferences you gave in your application, medical fitness and the vacancy position (para 1.13–1.14). RRBs and RRCs only recommend names; the offer of appointment comes from the Railway administration. Once a post is allotted, you can’t be considered for another post or category.
