FAQ

Syllabus questions, answered

No. Section D of the CRP RRBs-XV notification lists only the tests with their questions, marks, timing and medium. The topic lists on this page are commonly tested areas, not an official list.
Two — Reasoning (40 questions, 40 marks, 25 minutes) and Numerical Ability (40 questions, 40 marks, 20 minutes), for 80 marks in 45 minutes. You must qualify in both tests by scoring at least the minimum cut-off marks.
For Office Assistants, IBPS calls the maths test “Numerical Ability” in both prelims and mains. The question counts, marks and timings match the officer exam’s maths test; the topic chips above are the areas commonly tested under it.
For every wrong answer in an objective test, one-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question is deducted. This applies to both prelims and mains. A question left blank carries no penalty.
No. The fourth mains test is either English Language or Hindi Language — 40 questions, 40 marks, 30 minutes — and you opt for one of them. Every mains test is objective.
Apart from the English and Hindi language tests, every test is offered in English and Hindi, and in many states also in the state’s language — for example Telugu in Andhra Pradesh, Marathi and Konkani in Maharashtra, Bengali in West Bengal. You chose the medium in the online application. If a translation differs, the English version prevails.
No. Prelims only decides who goes to mains. For Office Assistants, only Main exam marks are used for the final merit list and provisional allotment — there is no interview.
