How IBPS turns your answers into a score

  1. Marks for correct answersEach objective test has a fixed number of questions and marks. For example, prelims Reasoning has 40 questions for 40 marks.
  2. Penalty for wrong answersFor every wrong answer, a quarter (0.25) of that question’s marks is deducted. This gives your corrected score.
  3. Blank answersA question you leave unanswered carries no penalty.
  4. NormalisationIf the exam runs in more than one session, corrected scores are normalised using the equi-percentile method.
  5. Two decimal placesScores are worked out to two decimal places for the calculation.

Where to raise a query

The notification doesn’t provide a way to challenge individual answers. For queries or complaints about the recruitment, it points you to the IBPS grievance portal.

  1. Check ibps.in firstEvery announcement for CRP RRBs-XV is posted only on the official IBPS website.
  2. Keep your details readyHave your registration number and the stage your query is about (prelims or Mains) to hand.
  3. Log in to the grievance portalGo to cgrs.ibps.in for queries and complaints.
  4. Know what’s finalIBPS’s decision on how many candidates to shortlist for provisional allotment is final.
  5. No claim to a re-testIf a technical problem affects the exam, any re-exam is at IBPS’s absolute discretion.

IBPS also checks candidates’ responses and logs for unusual similarity. If it concludes that answers were shared and the scores aren’t genuine, it can cancel candidature without notice.

Know early

Estimate your corrected score

Even without an answer key, you can estimate your score test by test if you remember your attempt. Then check each test against the rule that you must clear both prelims tests, Reasoning and Numerical Ability.

IBPS penalty rule

Score = marks for correct answers − ¼ × marks of each wrong answer

Work it out separately for each test, because cut-offs apply test by test. Unanswered questions score zero and carry no penalty.

Example: prelims Reasoning40 Q, 40 marks — assume 1 mark each
Correct30 × 1 = 30
Wrong6 × 0.25 = −1.5
Corrected score30 − 1.5 = 28.5 / 40

This is a worked example, not real data. In the Mains, some tests don’t work out to 1 mark per question — Reasoning and Numerical Ability carry 50 marks for 40 questions, and Computer Knowledge 20 marks for 40 questions — so take a quarter of each question’s own marks as the penalty. In the Mains you also need the minimum in each test.

FAQ

Answer key questions, answered

The CRP RRBs-XV notification, the corrigendum, the edit-window notice and the 2026-27 calendar don’t mention an answer key or an objection window. Treat any “official answer key” claim on other sites with caution, and rely on ibps.in for announcements.
The notification doesn’t set out a challenge process, fee or deadline for answers. For queries or complaints about the recruitment, log in to cgrs.ibps.in.
For each test, add the marks for your correct answers and subtract a quarter of the marks for each wrong answer. Unanswered questions carry no penalty. Check each test separately, because you must clear both prelims tests (Reasoning and Numerical Ability), and the Mains has a minimum for each test.
If the exam ran in more than one session, IBPS normalises corrected scores using the equi-percentile method and works them out to two decimal places. Your official score can therefore differ from a simple count.
The IBPS calendar puts the Office Assistant Mains on 30 January 2027. The notification doesn’t give a separate Mains result date for Office Assistants; it lists provisional allotment for February/March 2027. There is no interview, so your Mains marks alone decide the final merit. All dates are tentative.
Yes. You take either English Language or Hindi Language (40 questions, 40 marks, 30 minutes), and the quarter-mark penalty applies to all objective tests in the prelims and the Mains.
