IBPS RRB Clerk salary at a glance
IBPS RRB Clerk is the Office Assistant (Multipurpose) post, a Group “B” post in a Regional Rural Bank. The CRP RRBs-XV notification covers the exams and provisional allotment but doesn’t state the pay. The RRB you’re allotted to issues the offer of appointment and sets its terms.
What the notification says about pay
We went through the detailed notification (01.09.2026), the extension corrigendum (21.09.2026), the edit-window notice (06.10.2026) and the updated vacancy annexure (25.09.2026). None of them gives a pay scale, a starting basic or a list of allowances for Office Assistants. Here’s what they do cover:
| Item | In the notification | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Pay scale | Not given | Check the offer of appointment from your allotted RRB |
| Allowances | Not listed | Follow the rules of the RRB you join |
| Offer & terms | Solely the RRB’s decision (clause K) | IBPS has no role; send queries to the RRB |
| Service rules | Service and conduct rules of the RRB (clause N) | They apply once you join |

Office Assistant posts, by category
The updated Annexure I lists indicative Office Assistant vacancies bank by bank across 28 RRBs. Added up, they come to 8,222. PwBD and ex-servicemen vacancies are counted within these figures.
Source: Annexure I updated 25.09.2026. IBPS prints no national total, so 8,222 is the sum of the bank-wise table. Within it: PwBD HI 99, OC 85, VI 81, ID 90; ex-servicemen 809; DESM 352. Vacancies are indicative, and allotment follows the actual vacancies the RRBs report. The 2025 cycle (CRP RRBs-XIV) listed 8,022 Office Assistant vacancies.
Where you could work
CRP RRBs-XV recruits for 28 Regional Rural Banks, one for each participating state or UT, from Andhra Pradesh Grameena Bank to West Bengal Gramin Bank. As an Office Assistant applicant you apply for one state’s vacancies.
Allotment within your state
Provisional allotment is restricted to the RRBs of the state you opted for, based on your Main exam marks and the actual vacancies those RRBs report.
Local language
Proficiency in the state’s language is essential. Studying it in Class VIII or above counts as proficiency; otherwise you get six months from joining to acquire it, which the RRB’s board can extend, but not beyond the probation period.
Allotment is final
Once you’re provisionally allotted, no request for a change is entertained, and asking for one can lead to cancellation of your candidature.
The RRB makes the offer
The allotted RRB issues the offer of appointment, sets its terms and handles verification and joining. Appointment also depends on being declared medically fit.
What an Office Assistant does
An Office Assistant (Multipurpose) works in a Regional Rural Bank branch, usually in direct contact with customers. The notification doesn’t list duties, and they vary by RRB and branch. These are the typical areas of work — tap one to expand.
Pay, allowances & terms
The notification doesn’t list pay, allowances or their rates. These are the conditions it does set out:
Career growth
Office Assistant is the entry-level Group “B” post in an RRB. The same recruitment also fills officer posts (Scale I, II and III), and you could apply for Office Assistant and one officer post in this cycle, each with its own application and fee. Promotions after joining depend on the RRB’s own policy, not on the IBPS notification, so check them with the RRB you’re allotted to.
