How Delhi Police Constable selection works
Selection is shared between two bodies. SSC runs the CBE, shortlists candidates and declares the final result. Delhi Police runs the physical test, document verification and medical in Delhi. Only the CBE is scored — every later stage is pass/fail.
Stage-by-stage flow
- Computer-Based Exam — by SSC100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes. Held from 18.12.2025 to 06.01.2026; scores normalized across shifts.
- CBE result & shortlistDeclared 19.06.2026. Those above the minimum marks are shortlisted category-wise on merit, about 12 times the vacancies.
- PE&MT — by Delhi Police1600 m race, long jump, high jump, then height and chest. Qualifying only. Admit cards and schedule on delhipolice.gov.in.
- Document verificationAt the PE&MT, for candidates who clear every event — originals of age, education, category, licence and bonus claims.
- Final result — by SSCProvisional select lists from CBE marks, category-wise and separately for men and women, for those who cleared PE&MT and DV.
- Medical examinationProvisionally selected candidates are examined at government hospitals in Delhi; those found fit are considered for appointment.
CBE & the PE&MT shortlist
The CBE is the only scored stage. To be considered for the PE&MT you need at least 35 (UR), 30 (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) or 25 (ex-servicemen) normalized marks out of 100, without any bonus. Within that pool, SSC shortlists category-wise on merit. These were the marks of the last candidate shortlisted in the result of 19.06.2026:
| Category | Male (open) | Female |
|---|---|---|
| UR | 70.05 | 63.53 |
| OBC | 70.05 | 63.06 |
| EWS | 68.55 | 61.56 |
| SC | 62.84 | 54.60 |
| ST | 60.08 | 49.07 |
Normalized marks out of 100. For ex-servicemen (Others), UR and OBC closed at 28.80 and EWS, SC and ST at the 25-mark minimum; for ex-servicemen (Commando) every category closed at 25.00. Results of 11 candidates were withheld and 423 were not processed for malpractice.

Delhi Police schedules and conducts the PE&MT in Delhi after the CBE result, and issues its admit cards on delhipolice.gov.in. You run 1600 m first; clear it to take the long jump, then the high jump (any one of three chances each). Height and chest are measured only for those who pass the endurance events. The standard depends on age and gender — for candidates up to 30, men run in 6 minutes and women in 8.
Document verification
Delhi Police verifies documents at the PE&MT itself, for candidates who qualify all its events. Bring two recent passport-size colour photographs, an original photo ID, and originals with copies of everything you claimed — including:
Already in a government job? Bring a No Objection Certificate. A claim you can’t support with documents is not accepted — for example, a category claim without the certificate is treated as UR.
Medical examination
Provisionally selected candidates are sent, roll-number-wise, to medical officers at government hospitals in Delhi under the Delhi Police (Appointment & Recruitment) Rules, 1980. Those who pass are considered eligible for appointment.
Final merit & selection
SSC prepares provisional select lists from the CBE marks — separately for men and women, and for UR, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and ex-servicemen. NCC and RRU marks are added at this stage for those who proved them. Reserved-category candidates selected on their own merit fill unreserved seats; those who used a relaxed standard (age, height or chest, etc.) count against reserved seats.
