Where the 2025 posts are

Male — Ex-Servicemen (Others)

The actual job

The job & what it asks of you

What the role broadly involves, and the conditions in the notice that come with it — tap a heading to expand. Exact duties and postings are decided by Delhi Police.

The entry-level uniformed rank in Delhi Police’s executive (field) side — police work on the ground as part of a team, after training. It is a physically demanding job, which is why selection includes a race, jumps, physical measurements and a medical examination.
Male candidates must hold a valid driving licence for a light motor vehicle (motorcycle or car) by the date of the PE&MT. A learner’s licence is not accepted, and the licence is one of the documents checked at document verification.
10% of the male posts in each category are reserved for ex-servicemen, and half of that quota is for those with Special Forces / NSG (Special Action Group) service, a ‘Qualified Instructor’ grading in the commando course, or Navy / Air Force service in commando-type units. CAPF personnel cannot apply as ex-servicemen.
Women are recruited to the same post and pay level, with their own vacancies, physical standards and merit list. The notice also has a rule for candidates who are pregnant or have recently given birth or had a miscarriage at the time of the PE&MT: they are declared temporarily unfit, the post is kept in reserve, and they are re-tested after the confinement period.
Candidates must be in sound health, with vision of 6/12 in both eyes without glasses, no colour blindness and no correction such as glasses or surgery to improve vision — with no relaxation for any category. Tattoos are allowed only within the content, location and size limits set out in the notice.
Candidates from all parts of the country were eligible. The post is not identified as suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities. The PE&MT, document verification and medical are all held in Delhi.
On top of basic

Allowances & deductions

Basic pay is only part of the salary. Government employees also receive allowances and have deductions; the rates are set by government orders, change over time, and are not listed in the notice — so confirm the current rates with Delhi Police.

Service terms in the notice

Provisionally selected candidates are medically examined at government hospitals in Delhi, and those who pass are considered eligible for appointment. Success in the exam does not by itself give a right to appointment — the government must be satisfied that you are suitable. Delhi Police keeps a reserve panel of 15% candidates and handles any pending criminal or departmental cases under its own standing orders. If you are finally selected and hear nothing from Delhi Police within a year of the final result, the notice asks you to contact them. Pay rises over time with annual increments and DA revisions under government rules.
