Prelims & mains done — LPT next
Both online exams are over: the prelims on 11 and 13 April 2026 (30 April for Imphal and Kakching), and the mains, scheduled for 7 June 2026 as RBI announced. Call letters for both were made available on the RBI website. Next is the Language Proficiency Test, whose centre and date the Regional Office intimates to shortlisted candidates.
The LPT is held at the RBI Regional Office of the recruiting office you applied to. RBI’s mains result notice of 24 September 2026 asks candidates to contact that Regional Office for LPT and pre-recruitment queries. No LPT date has been published on the RBI website.
How exam centres are allotted
RBI can change centres when it has to. In April 2026 the prelims could not be held at the Imphal and Kakching venues because of a curfew; RBI held it for those candidates on 30 April 2026 and issued fresh call letters. Mobile phones and other electronic devices are banned at the venue, and calculators are not permitted.
How the call letter works
- Watch the RBI websiteCall letters for both online exams are made available on the RBI website. For the mains, the prelims result notice said separate call letters and an information handout would be linked there.
- Download it with your registration detailsUse the login details from your online application to download your call letter.
- Read the information handoutThe advertisement says an information handout comes with the call letter. It explains the exam-day rules.
- Check the time and venueYour exam time and venue are printed on the call letter — there is no separate city slip to wait for.
- Keep it with your recordsSave the call letter along with your application, results and roll number; you will need the roll number to find yourself in RBI’s result lists.
