No answer key — check your marksheet instead
RBI’s prelims result notice of 25 May 2026 says the recruitment process is outsourced to an external examination body, which doesn’t provide question papers. So there is no answer key and no objection window. Instead, RBI publishes individual marksheets: the prelims marksheet came out on 27 August 2026, and the mains marksheet is still awaited.
Be careful with “official answer key” links on other sites. RBI publishes results, marksheets and cut-offs for this recruitment on its own website, opportunities.rbi.org.in. You can still check your attempt against the marking rules below.
Scoring at a glance
How RBI turns your answers into a score
- Marks for correct answersEvery test has as many marks as questions. For example, prelims Numerical Ability has 35 questions for 35 marks.
- Penalty for wrong answersFor each wrong answer, a quarter of a mark is deducted, in both the prelims and the mains.
- Blank answersOnly wrong answers attract the deduction, so a question you leave unanswered scores zero.
- Equating & normalisationWhere a test is held in more than one session, scores across sessions are equated, and the corrected scores are then normalised using the equipercentile method.
- Sectional check, then totalYou must clear the cut-off in each test, and your total is ranked against your office’s cut-off for your category.
Score rules that matter after the exam
These come from the advertisement and RBI’s 27 August 2026 cut-off table:
Where to raise a query
The advertisement doesn’t provide a way to challenge individual answers. Here’s where RBI does point candidates:
- Check RBI’s website firstRBI posts results, marksheets and cut-offs for this recruitment on opportunities.rbi.org.in, and any corrigendum only on rbi.org.in.
- Keep your details readyHave your registration number, roll number and the exam your query is about to hand.
- Use the help linkThe advertisement gives a link for queries. Mention “Recruitment of Assistant - Panel Year 2025” in the subject.
- LPT and pre-recruitment queriesContact the Regional Office you applied to, as the 24 September 2026 result notice asks.
- No answer challengeThere is no answer key, so there is no challenge process, fee or deadline. RBI’s prelims result notice adds that RTI requests on the result figures are taken up only after the final results.
Estimate your corrected score
Even without an answer key, you can estimate your score test by test if you remember your attempt. Because RBI Assistant has sectional cut-offs, check each test against its minimum before you look at the total.
Score = correct answers − ¼ × wrong answers
Work it out for each test, compare it with that test’s sectional cut-off, then add the tests up for your total. Unanswered questions score zero and carry no penalty.
This is a worked example, not real data. Your official score can differ from your estimate, because multi-session scores are equated and normalised. In the 2026 prelims, the GEN total cut-off was above 90 out of 100 at every office, so check your office’s row in the cut-off table.

Turn your score check into a plan
An estimated score helps most when it shows you where marks slipped away. Use it to find your weakest test, then practise that section with JobSafal, whether you’re waiting for the LPT or planning your next attempt.

See after every mock which test is closest to its cut-off and pulling your score down.
Cut negative marks
Practise deciding when to skip, since every wrong answer costs a quarter of a mark.
Timed mocks
Separately timed sections, just like the real prelims and mains, so you build the right pace.
PYQ practice sets
