SSC GD Constable Exam Analysis 2026 · the paper & the numbers

The 2026 CBE is over and the result is awaited. SSC does not publish a difficulty or good-attempts analysis, so this page sticks to official facts: how the paper is built, how marks are normalized across shifts, and how many candidates cleared each stage in the 2025 cycle.

2025: how many cleared each stage

The GD 2025 cycle, from SSC’s CBE result write-up (17 Jun 2025) and final result write-up (15 Jan 2026). The 2025 CBE was held from 4 to 25 February 2025.

2025 figures, labelled as such. The 2025 exam also included Sepoy in NCB. SSC’s male total of 45,115 includes 84 vacancies held back because of court orders. For 2026, SSC lists 25,487 tentative vacancies.

How marks are compared

Normalization, bonus & tie-breaks

Because the CBE runs over many shifts, SSC normalizes raw marks using the procedure in its notice of 2 June 2025. NCC bonus marks are then added (C certificate 5%, B 3%, A 2% of the maximum marks), and the result decides merit and cut-offs. To be considered for PET/PST you need at least 30% (UR), 25% (OBC/EWS) or 20% (others) without the bonus; about 8 times the vacancies are then shortlisted on merit. Equal scores are separated by Part A marks, then Part B, then Part C, then the older candidate, then alphabetical order of name.

FAQ

Analysis questions, answered

No. SSC publishes answer keys and results, not difficulty levels or good-attempt figures. The tentative answer keys for the 2026 CBE came out on 15 June 2026; the result is awaited.
SSC doesn’t publish one, and we don’t estimate it. What is official: each question carries 2 marks and each wrong answer costs 0.25, so a careless guess costs you, but an accurate attempt gains far more.
SSC normalizes the marks across shifts using its published procedure (notice of 2 June 2025). Normalized marks plus any NCC bonus decide merit and cut-offs.
25,21,839 candidates appeared in the 2025 CBE. 3,94,121 were shortlisted for PET/PST, 95,575 for the medical and DV, and 50,047 were recommended in the final result.
