SBI Clerk salary at a glance
The advertisement sets one basic pay scale for Junior Associates and gives a starting basic for graduates. On top of the basic pay come dearness allowance, other allowances and perquisites under SBI’s rules, as issued from time to time.
The Junior Associate basic pay scale
Para 6 of the advertisement writes the scale as ₹24050-1340/3-28070-1650/3-33020-2000/4-41020-2340/7-57400-4400/1-61800-2680/1-64480. Read it in parts: the starting point, the size of each increment, and how many increments come at that size.

How the basic pay grows
These are the basic pay figures at joining, at some of the points where the increment size changes, and at the top of the scale. Increments are counted from the ₹26,730 starting basic. They show basic pay only.
SBI’s own figure for total starting emoluments is around ₹46,000 a month at a metro like Mumbai, including DA and other allowances at the current rate and the two additional increments for graduates. It doesn’t publish an in-hand (take-home) figure, and allowances vary with the place of posting, so we don’t quote one here.
Where you’ll work
You apply for the vacancies of one state/UT only. If you’re selected, you’re posted in that state, and the advertisement limits transfers out of it.

The merit list is drawn state-wise and category-wise, and selected candidates are posted in the state they applied for.
No transfer for 5 years
There is no provision for inter-circle or inter-state transfer for Junior Associates before they complete 5 years of service.
After 5 years
Only in exceptional cases, such as extreme compassionate or spouse grounds, may SBI consider a transfer request, at its sole discretion and under its transfer policy.

What a Junior Associate does
The advertisement names the post Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre, but it doesn’t list duties, and they vary by branch. These are the usual areas of clerical work at a branch — tap one to expand.

Para 7 lists the benefits but not their rates; they follow SBI’s instructions as issued from time to time. Para 8 sets the probation terms.
Career growth
Within the scale, basic pay rises through its increments — 17 more from the ₹26,730 starting point to ₹64,480. Before probation ends, SBI evaluates your performance and can extend probation if it doesn’t meet the bank’s expectations. The advertisement doesn’t describe promotions; those follow SBI’s own policy.
