Prelims result — not out yet
The advertisement put the Preliminary exam tentatively in September 2026 and the Main exam tentatively in November 2026. SBI’s careers page currently shows the Prelims call letter for download, and no result has been posted there. SBI has not announced a result date for either stage.

How marks are counted
The SBI Clerk 2026 advertisement sets out these rules for the online exams:
Merit list & wait list
Only the Main exam aggregate counts for the final merit list; Prelims marks are not added. Candidates who qualify are ranked in descending order of aggregate marks within the state/UT they applied for and their category, and selected candidates are posted in that state/UT. There is no interview. Final selection depends on verification of your eligibility and application details, and on qualifying the local language test where it applies.
SBI keeps a wait list of up to 50% of the vacancies, state-wise and category-wise. Candidates are released from it every quarter against non-joining and resignations in the current batch, provided they have the minimum qualifying marks SBI sets. The wait list is valid for one year from the declaration of the final result.
How SBI Clerk cut-offs workWhat happens after the Prelims result
Clearing Prelims isn’t the finish line — these steps remain before you join SBI.
- Mains call letter & examDownload the Mains call letter from the SBI website, tentatively from 10 days before the exam. Mains is tentatively in November 2026. Bring your stamped Prelims call letter and stamped ID-proof copy too — they are submitted at Mains.
- Provisional selectionSBI makes provisional selection on Mains performance and publishes the results of provisionally qualified candidates on its website.
- Local Language Proficiency TestOnly if you did not study the opted language in Class 10 or 12. It is held after provisional selection and before joining, at a centre in the state you applied for, at your own expense. Fail it and you will not be offered appointment.
- Verification & joiningYour eligibility and documents are verified, and appointment is subject to medical fitness and KYE (Know Your Employee) formalities. New Junior Associates serve a probation of at least 6 months.
