From the notification

What the CEN says about the syllabus

RRB does not publish topic-wise weightage. These are the points the notification itself makes about what you will be tested on.

One list, both CBTs

Para 13.1 (CBT-1) and para 13.2.1 (CBT-2) carry the same topics for Mathematics, Reasoning and General Awareness.

Section split is indicative

The 40/30/30 and 50/35/35 question splits are “only indicative”; the actual papers may vary slightly.

Pitched at the post’s level

Questions are generally in line with the educational standard prescribed for the posts (a degree). General Science is listed up to 10th CBSE level.

No English or typing paper

There is no English-language section, and the typing skill test for the two typist posts is dispensed with for CEN 06/2026.

FAQ

Syllabus questions, answered

Yes. CEN 06/2026 lists identical topics for both. CBT-2 simply has more questions — 120 (General Awareness 50, Mathematics 35, Reasoning 35) against CBT-1’s 100 (40, 30, 30) — in the same 90 minutes.
Three — General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence & Reasoning. Every question carries one mark, and one-third of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
No. The CBTs have no English-language section. You choose a medium — English, Hindi or one of 13 regional languages — and questions are shown in that language and in English.
“Basics of Computers and Computer Applications” is a General Awareness topic. There is no separate computer test, and the typing skill test has been dispensed with for CEN 06/2026 — typing proficiency is assessed after joining instead.
RRB publishes only the section-level split (for example 40 General Awareness questions in CBT-1), not topic-wise weightage. Cover every topic in the official list, and use mock tests to find your own weak areas.
In para 13.1 and 13.2.1 of the detailed CEN No. 06/2026, available in English and Hindi on the unified RRB website, rrb.indianrailways.gov.in.
