Why they matter

Why solving PYQs works

Reading past questions isn’t enough. You need to solve them against the clock. Here’s what that practice gives you:

See the real pattern

You see the style, difficulty and phrasing of exam-level questions before the exam.

Find weak topics

Your mistakes show which syllabus areas deserve the most time.

Build exam speed

IBPS Clerk prelims is 100 questions in 60 minutes, with a separate 20-minute timer for each test. Timed sets build that pace.

Clear every section

IBPS sets a minimum score for each test as well as the total, so check every section of your score, not just the overall number.

How to use previous year papers

Downloading a PDF won’t change your score. This routine will.

  1. Attempt full, timedDo a whole set in one sitting against the clock, as you would in the real exam.
  2. Review every mistakeGo through the answers and note why each wrong answer went wrong — with ¼ of a question’s marks lost per wrong answer, careless guesses cost you.
  3. Tag weak topicsGroup your errors by syllabus topic to find the two or three areas costing you the most marks.
  4. Drill those topicsPractise the weak topics on their own, then attempt another set.
  5. Track the trendWatch your score across sets, section by section as well as overall.

FAQ

PYQ questions, answered

Six timed, PYQ-style practice sets for IBPS Clerk. Sets 1 and 2 have 100 questions in 60 minutes, sets 3 and 4 have 80 questions in 50 minutes, and sets 5 and 6 have 65 questions in 45 minutes. They are generated from JobSafal’s question bank and are not scanned papers from specific years.
The CRP CSA-XVI notification and its corrigenda don’t include past question papers or answer keys. The prelims information handout, released with the call letters, contains illustrative sample questions for English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. For anything else IBPS releases, check the official website, ibps.in.
Do both. Past-style questions show you what gets asked, and mocks keep you sharp on the current pattern. Use practice sets to find your weak topics, then use full mocks to build speed for 100 questions in 60 minutes in prelims and 160 questions in 125 minutes in mains.
Yes. You can attempt JobSafal practice sets in English or Hindi. In the real exam, the English tests are in English only; the other tests are offered in English, Hindi and, for many states/UTs, a regional language listed in the notification.
Solve every set under exam conditions and review each one thoroughly. A careful review matters more than the number of sets. Spread them across your preparation rather than saving them all for the last week.
Exact questions rarely repeat. The tests stay the same, though, so the same kinds of question come up again. That’s why practising by topic pays off.
