IBPS SO salary at a glance
The notification sets one basic pay scale, “Specialist Officers – Scale I”, for every post in this recruitment. On top of the basic pay, you get allowances and perquisites under the rules of the bank you’re allotted to, as those rules stand at the time.
The Scale I basic pay scale
The notification writes the scale as ₹48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920. Read it in three parts: the starting basic, the size of each increment, and how many increments come at that size.
| Part of the scale | Increment × number | Basic pay |
|---|---|---|
| Part 1 | ₹2,000 × 7 | ₹48,480 → ₹62,480 |
| Part 2 | ₹2,340 × 2 | ₹62,480 → ₹67,160 |
| Part 3 | ₹2,680 × 7 | ₹67,160 → ₹85,920 |
Source: the “Compensation” table under clause A of the CRP SPL-XVI notification. All 16 increments together take the basic from ₹48,480 to ₹85,920. The same scale applies to all six posts.
How the basic pay grows
These are the basic pay figures at the start of the scale, at each point where the increment size changes, and at the top of the scale. They show basic pay only.
IBPS doesn’t publish an in-hand or gross salary figure. Your take-home pay depends on the allowances and perquisites of the bank you join, and on deductions, so we don’t quote one here.
Where you could work
CRP SPL-XVI recruits for Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India. You apply for one post only, and compete for that post’s vacancies.
Same notified scale
The notification gives one Scale I basic pay scale for all six specialist posts. Allowances and perquisites follow each bank’s own rules.
Merit-cum-preference
After the interviews, you’re provisionally allotted to one bank based on your merit and the order of bank preferences you gave.
Preferences are locked
You set your bank preference order in the online application form. IBPS won’t accept any request to change it later.
The bank makes the offer
The allotted bank issues the offer of appointment, sets its terms and handles joining. Appointment also depends on being declared medically fit.
What each specialist officer does
All six posts start in the officer cadre of a public sector bank at Scale I. The notification doesn’t describe duties, and they vary by bank and posting, so these are general descriptions of each role — tap one to expand.
Allowances & terms
The notification doesn’t list individual allowances or their rates. It only says they follow the participating bank’s rules. These are the conditions it does set out:
Career growth
Scale I is the entry point into a bank’s officer cadre for all six specialist posts. Within the scale, basic pay rises through its increments. Promotions beyond that depend on the bank’s own promotion policy, not on the IBPS notification, so check the details with the bank you’re allotted to.

Daily targets for Reasoning, English, Quant & banking awareness, plus daily current affairs.
Get into the merit list
Your bank is allotted on merit-cum-preference, and merit comes from your Mains (80%) and interview (20%) scores. Within the Mains, merit is drawn up on Professional Knowledge, but you must clear the minimum in every other test first. JobSafal doesn’t have IBPS SO mock tests or PYQ sets yet; your IBPS SO plan gives daily targets for the general sections — Reasoning, English, Quant and banking awareness — not for post-specific Professional Knowledge.
