How scores are worked out and used
The SBI PO 2026 advertisement and the Mains handout set out these rules:
Final merit list
You must qualify Phase II (Mains) and Phase III separately. Mains marks — objective 200 plus descriptive 30 — are scaled to 75, and group exercise (20) plus interview (30) are scaled to 25, for a total out of 100. Prelims marks are not added. The provisional selection list is drawn from the top of the merit list in each category.
If more than one candidate has the same marks at the cut-off point, they are ranked by age, older first. The psychometric test is not part of the merit table; its findings are placed before the interview panel.
How SBI PO cut-offs workWhat happens after the Mains result
Clearing Mains isn’t the finish line — Phase III and joining formalities remain.
- Psychometric testPersonality profiling for candidates shortlisted for Phase III, tentatively in October/November 2026. All questions are mandatory; SBI may hold it in proctored mode or at identified centres.
- Group exercise & interview20 + 30 marks, tentatively October/November 2026. Bring original eligibility documents, proof of date of birth and any caste, OBC (non-creamy layer), EWS or PwBD certificate — without them you won’t be allowed to attend.
- Final resultThe provisional selection list, tentatively in November/December 2026, on SBI’s careers page.
- Offer & joiningSubject to medical fitness and verification. Selected candidates complete an online banking course before joining, sign a ₹2 lakh bond to serve at least 3 years, and can be posted anywhere in India.
